Sammy's Links
Joseph Reed's MySpace page
A MySpace page run by my brother Joe, a talented musician
& songwriter.
Tribute to Powder Puff, the cat (1991-2003)
A few years ago, I submitted a tribute to our cat, the late,
great Powder Puff, to a website called In Memory of Pets. Here is
the entry for her. (By the way, the brother was Joe. At the time,
I was still a little fidgety about stuff like giving out names of
relatives online.)
The NBC Chimes Museum
This is a tribute page I found which has early recordings of the
NBC chimes, from its original 7-note version to later times, as
well as a couple of earlier station ID recordings that are
interesting.
Computer emulators:
Edsac Simulator A freeware program that operates with "controls"
that simulate the old EDSAC computer, as it existed from 1949-51!
(The makers point out that it doesn't have any later conveniences
like the "unconditional branch order" or anything like
that.) If you have the know-how, you could make programs
with this (If you do, of course, you know a lot more
about it than I do). The programs that come with it include the
first 2 EDSAC programs of 1949, and one of the earliest computer
games - a tic-tac-toe game that was written in 1952!
UNIVAC Simulator This simulates the
legendary UNIVAC computer. The freeware version, which I think is
a neat thing to look at, does come with a rudimentary sample
program, but the creator really wants you to register
the program for $35, for which you'll get a help file giving you
pointers on how to program the UNIVAC, as well as a tic-tac-toe
game.
VICE A freeware zip file containing emulators for
various Commodore computers from PET to Commodore 128!
DOSBox A
freeware emulator that lets you run DOS programs in Windows!
"Language
Advisory" links
.I put my "language advisory" on pages
that are pretty good, but you may come across a few 3-5 letter
words in the content.
In the 00s (aka The Amiright Message Board)
This is a message board that I post on sometimes. I put a
thread on it promoting my web page when it started on the 4th of
July, 2006. Someone replying in my thread suggested I put a link
to this on my website. I have decided that if I'm going to use a
message board to plug my web page like I have, I should put a
link to it on my page as well - sortof the "scratch your
back" system.
Radio-Info Boards
This is a message board where you can talk about the state
of radio, sometimes with people who work or have worked in it!
Music for Maniacs
A strange-music "Blogspot" site that was nice
enough to include "Music from the World of the Strange and
the Bizarre" on its list of "podcast" links! I can't
thank you enough, "Mr. Fab"!
The Bopst Show
Another strange-music online show. In the mass E-mailing
promoting his show, Chris included "Music from the World of
the Strange and the Bizarre" on his list of "Other
great podcasts worthy of valuable air time in any ear hole"!
Thanks a lot, Chris!
